Navigating Your Admissions Options

Our families were granted acceptances into several schools. This week and next, we are counseling parents as they navigate their options. We wanted to shared some tips we use when counseling clients in early April before enrollment deposits and final decisions are due on the 15th.

Reconsider Your Non-Negotiables

• The factors on the wish list you built in the Fall might look different today. That's okay.

•Make a new list of must-haves. Now, cross-reference your list with your list of school acceptances. Where do you see things aligning?

• Consider some logistical impact--convenience, location, financial strain. Has anything changed in the past 6 months? How does this affect your school search?

Talk. A Lot.

• Maybe this list of options now feels overwhelming. Keep the dialogue open--between you and your partner and your kids, too. Talking honestly about feelings and hesitations can be therapeutic. Just try to come from a place of wanting to learn and understand more--rather than an anxious perspective.

• What makes you excited? What makes you nervous?Lean into that.

•More often than not, the final school decision is a heart decision.
